Environmental Air Quality Engineer
The Environmental Air Quality Engineer— (EAQE) is responsible for improving sustainability and environmental compliance of the companies current and future facilities.  The EAQE will accomplish this by identifying opportunities to reduce air emissions, managing the air permitting process, performing air emissions testing, and ensuring the appropriate systems are in place for complying with air emissions requirements.  As a company rooted in improving the environment, the EAQE will add value to the entire supply chain by identifying and implementing process and supply chain improvements that improve the carbon profile of our industry.
Essential Job Functions
  • Identify opportunities to reduce air emissions (i.e. fugitive and source emissions) and work with operations and engineering resources to implement these solutions
  • Develop air permitting strategies and plans for each facility that ensure compliance with all environmental regulations while providing flexibility for future growth and expansion
  • Manage the air permitting process including applications for new air permits, modifications/revisions to existing permits, and renewal of permits
  • Coordinate and manage testing to demonstrate compliance to air permits
  • Track and analyze environmental Key Performance Indicators
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and assist in the execution and documentation of environmental deficiencies related to emissions
  • Monitor the completion of environmental regulatory compliance tasks by assigned facilities
  • Review and advise project managers and engineers on environmental requirements for new systems; work collaboratively to ensure environmental compliance considerations are design in up front
  • Assist in the development, deployment, and monitoring of records, reporting, and submittals.
  • Assist in the development, delivery, and documentation of environmental training for employees.
  • Assist in the documentation, investigation, and administration of environmental records for compliance.
  • Administer and report on the environmental assessment and audit processes
  • Track and verify completion of environmental site compliance with daily, weekly, monthly, and etc. inspections and audits.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Environmental Engineering or similar degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management experience
  • Prior experience working in a Wood Products or other process based manufacturing company with sole resposnisbility for air quality
  • Knowledge of Task Based Curriculum Development methodology
  • Understanding of implementation of ISO 14001 or other Environmental Management Systems.
  • Proficiency with database, project management, and reporting processes
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis methodologies (i.e. hypothesis testing, regression, etc.).
  • Method 9 certified
  • Working knowledge of AERMOD
  • Prior environmental work experience in VA, NC, FL, AL, or MS
