Estimator – Utilities Construction
Company Location – Martinsburg, WV area
 
Projects located throughout WV, PA, MD & VA region
*Most projects located within 100 miles of company shop at Kearneysville, WV

Our Client, a well established utility construction company, is seeking an experienced Estimator with project management knowledge to join their team.  Their Corporate office is located in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia near Martinsburg.  They specialize in horizontal boring, jacking, and tunneling utilities projects.  Additionally, they do water lines, sanitary sewer and storm sewer, pump stations, treatment plants, site work, subdivisions and commercial plumbing.

 
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred
  • Experience with HeavyBid and InSite SiteWork Software is a plus
  • 5+ years of construction bidding experience is required
  • Must possess excellent math skills, verbal & written communication skills
  • Must be proficient with Earthwork and material takeoffs
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Suites
 
Essential Functions: 
  • Request, compare and analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals
  • Review job specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings
  • Monitor project addendums, updates and changes constantly during the estimate period
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate accurate estimates
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
  • Prepare accurate and complete proposals
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction
 
Knowledge of:
  • Estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing
  • Project management principles, practices and methods
  • Common commercial and estimating software
  • Contract administration
  • Progress payments, change orders, and claims
  • Principles of administration, leadership, supervision and training
 
Ability to:
  • Bid a project from beginning to end including takeoffs, detailed estimate setup, entry and analysis of material and subcontracting pricing
  • Learn and follow company policies and procedures
  • Read and interpret schematics, specifications and plans
  • Prepare reports, business correspondence, and documents
  • Plan, organize and direct the work of others
